SENIOR HEALTH AND POLICY ADVISOR
Take the lead in promoting a safe and compliant workplace as a Health and Safety Officer within a growing and established organisation. This hands‑on role offers the opportunity to take ownership of health and safety processes, from coordinating training and maintaining compliance records to identifying risks and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Ideal for a proactive professional who enjoys working independently, you’ll play a key role in fostering a positive safety culture and ensuring high standards are maintained across the business.
SENIOR HEALTH AND POLICY ADVISOR ROLE:
- Preparing, maintaining and reviewing workplace risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and COSHH assessments
- Supporting compliance with UK health and safety legislation through maintaining accurate policies, procedures, records and management systems
- Identifying workplace hazards, conducting inspections and equipment checks and recommending appropriate control measures
- Monitoring corrective and preventative actions, supporting incident investigations and maintaining accurate reporting records
- Coordinating employee health and safety inductions, mandatory training, refresher courses and certification requirements
- Supporting fire safety, emergency procedures, audits and scheduled health and safety inspections
- Preparing management reports, monitoring outstanding compliance requirements and ensuring deadlines are met
- Providing practical health and safety guidance to employees and managers while supporting continuous improvement of health and safety processes
SENIOR HEALTH AND POLICY ADVISOR ESSENTIALS:
- Demonstrating 2-3 years’ experience within a Health and Safety, Compliance or similar operationally focused role
- Applying practical knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance requirements, risk assessments and safety documentation
- Demonstrating strong administration, organisation and record-keeping skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions and supporting workplace safety improvements
- Managing workloads independently while coordinating actions, monitoring deadlines and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Utilising Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook, to maintain documentation, reporting and compliance activities
- Demonstrating strong communication, problem-solving and judgement skills, with a proactive and professional approach to handling sensitive information and workplace safety matters
- NEBOSH qualification desirable but not essential
